This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to hyaluronic acid (HA) for treating knee osteoarthritis. The study analyzed seven studies involving 722 subjects, with 364 participants receiving PRP and 358 participants receiving HA. The results showed that PRP was significantly more effective than HA in improving joint function and reducing pain, as measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). PRP demonstrated a greater improvement in symptoms, indicating its potential as a superior non-surgical treatment option for knee osteoarthritis.
